Poems of Robert Frost Essay - 1556 Words

Robert Frost was an American poet, and playwright who became one of the leading pioneers in poetry in the late 1800’s into the 1900’s. Frost grew up in rural New England in the early twentieth century and experienced many hardships in his life including losing his father at the young age of eleven and losing two children at very young ages. He used his experiences of growing up in a rural area in most of his poems. Another major them in his poems are decision-making poems usually based off of his own life. This is a huge them in his poems because Frost always wondered what would have happened if he decided doing something other than writing poetry in his life. He always wondered how his life would be different and it shows in his poems†¦show more content†¦This theme in Frost’s poems has been displayed many times before. Sometimes they aren’t as much as life-changing decisions as they are decisions to make a situation better or worse. This theme o f making a situation better or worse is displayed in his poem â€Å"The Mending Wall†. If I could put a notion in his head: Why do they make good neighbors? Isnt it Where there are cows? But here there are no cows. Before I built a wall Id ask to know What I was walling in or walling out, And to whom I was like to give offense. It is a little hard to understand from this excerpt of the poem but the main poem is about two neighbors who have a wall separating them and the wall is breaking apart. One man wants to take down the wall but the other thinks the wall should stay up like it had been when their fathers built it there. This poem deals with some minor decisions but still have to do with a decision that can affect a life. Robert Frost’s poems always makes the reader of the poems think outside of the box and make the reader think of things in a different perspective. Frost’s poem â€Å"Fire and Ice† has less to do with the final decision but more to do with the thought process leading to the final conclusion; Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
